before the launch of GTA4, it didn't even take a cancellation for M$ to be in a panic. It took microsoft existing for them to be in a panic, which was widely accepted on this site as the truth.
At least this reason is actually a reason, even though it's stupid.
more likely konami wouldn't allow it to be mentioned in a review without it being paid more or the products themselves haven't been announced/released yet.
I can't see any plausible reason why a company would want to keep it's name out of the press.
He didn't say anything about the cutscenes themselves. He didn't stab at sony, he didn't put on a skit, and he didn't mention halo.
PHAIL
edit: so then why make the ad hominem attack? That makes the better half of your post an off topic attack of him. way2troll.
You guys have access to his PS3 and can confirm that he does in fact have room for all these things?
It's the fact that they explicitly told them not to mention them.
If I told you not to look behind a curtain no matter what, and it's of the utmost importance, you're going to want to look behind the curtain. Even if all that's behind the curtain is a wall, you're still going to want to look.
There's no reason to ask people not to review certain parts of it unless they foresaw some sort of issue with those things.
It's more like a plugin for a 3d modeller than it's own standalone in significance. He modeled most of the wireframe by just using references from the pictures, which isn't a very difficult thing to do anyway.
It did have some very nice ease of use things that are slightly more difficult in most 3d modellers though. The curve drawing thing, and the ease of connecting points especially.
He isn't judging length of cutscenes, and he isn't commenting on install times.
He is talking about the suspicion Konami aroused by publicly disallowing people from mentioning things that have little to no impact on spoiling the game.
You can't honestly tell me that if you saw an article about a non-PS3 publisher doing this that you wouldn't think the same exact things everyone else thinks.
Hitler wasn't the first one to try to kill a bunch of jews. That doesn't make him a good person.
I have never heard of any other company disallowing reviewers in such a way. Maybe in pre-launch previews, but I've never heard of it outside of plotline NDAs outside of this occurrence.
I think Sessler actually talked a fair bit about it at the beginning of the video. Kudos for watching with an open mind instead of just seeing "Konami bad" and instantly jumping to "everyone else does it too".
I think optional installs should be the norm. If you want the best quality, you should have the option. Every game should be able to run on the barebones system though.
"The whole point of gaming consoles were to make gaming simple and easy."
this got you bubbles. Couldn't be more true.
Installs are almost necessary to get similar performance in both texture quality as well as performance.
In some games it will add performance, in others it's simply installing data necessary to use the same components as other versions. More times than not, it won't increase performance greatly in most cross platform games, because it just isn't worth putting in the extra time for marginal benefit.
I meant IP. Mah bad.
And I was talking about live, not PSN. As far as I've heard these are the following ways people can get banned in no particular order.
Account, System, IP, and Credit Card. I think they might put watches on people if they have the same name(CC name) as people that have repeated offenses.
If you play a lot at all, you automatically get 5 stars. Even if you are a legitimate greifer.
Is that they are confirmed to have told reviewers to completely ignore certain things about the game in their reviews.
I'm not judging the game at all, but what good is a review if they aren't allowed to say anything about the bad things in the game, and that goes for all games.
I do think there is a problem with reviews fluffing scores of big name games because they are big name games, but I think it's even worse that reviewers aren't even allowed to say bad things ...
It's hardly a record.
It's closer related to the highest profit gain by a company in a single quarter as a world record than anything they've had in their previous books.
I think they need to make it easier to rate people with the current system quickly more than anything.
I'd rate 9/10 people I played with if I didn't have to go to their gamer card, then work my way through a minute of menus to rate them.
It would be nice if you could rate them a little more in depth though too.
is "hardcore gamer" actually hardcore gamers or just the author.
Honestly, XBL has been this way for a LONG time. It would happen even all the way back in the original Ghost Recon. The best way to prevent it is actually use the avoid/prefer/report system they have in place. They can't suspend people that they don't know about.
This also isn't a problem in most games that require a fair amount of team work. If you play hardcore S&D in CoD4, it necessitat...
They can ban you at the machine and ISP level on live too. They suspend accounts more often than anything though.
Am I the only one that thinks records like these are a bit of a stretch.
what happened to records actually being something interesting. Have they really sunk to using sales records now? HUZAH CAPITALISM. //insert fart noise...
The combat in every GTA game based off the 3 engine sucked balls compared to GTA4.
The only thing that suffered immensely was scope and direction. Things like the TV and darts n crap are just lame to have in GTA, and the missions suffered a lot from pretty much being reworked lesser quality copies of old missions from previous games.
Gameplay is the only thing that DIDN'T suffer in GTA4
